Men's Tennis Looks Ahead to Pac-10 Tourney

Oregon will head south to take on the Pac-10's top players at the Pac-10 Championships at Ojai Valley. The Ducks have four singles players and two doubles teams competing in the championship bracket. Senior David Becker, sophomore Oded Teig and freshmen Buck Mink and Martin Pawlowski will play in the singles championship bracket, beginning Thursday at 8:00 a.m. Doubles compeition begins Friday at 11:00 a.m., with Oregon duos of Becker/Mink and Pawlowski/Teig in action. Singles invitational competition begins on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Competing for the Ducks will be sophomore Jason Menke and freshmen Alexander Druzenko, Greg Dubourdieu and Chris King. In invitational doubles, Oregon's tandem of Druzenko/Dubourdieu will see action at 11:00 a.m. and King/Menke will play at 12:30 p.m. For ongoing results and information from the 2001 Pac-10 Ojai Valley Tournament, log on to and .

At the Pac-10 Championships last season, the Ducks played tough tennis and made some post-season milestones. Oregon had two players advance to the singles quarterfinals, and for the first time in school history, the Ducks advanced to the doubles finals.

The Ducks finished their regular season play against No. 18-ranked Washington, in Seattle. The Huskies swept doubles and won five out of six singles matches, downing Oregon, 6-1. However, Oregon's Teig earned an upset win over No. 46-ranked Matt Hanlin, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, at No.1 singles. The Ducks finished the regular season with an 8-14 mark, 0-7 in Pac-10 compeitition.
