April 25, 2001

LOS ANGELES - The University of Oregon women's tennis team dropped its final dual match of the year Wednesday, losing 6-1 to 30th-ranked UCLA at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

The Ducks fall to 5-17 and 0-8 in the Pac-10 while the Bruins improve to 7-17 and 3-5.

Oregon's lone victory came at No. 6 singles, with junior Vickie Gunnarsson picking up a 7-5, 6-1 win over Jennifer Donahue. Adeline Arnaud and Jeanette Mattsson won at No. 3 doubles, 8-5, but the Ducks lost the doubles point after falling at Nos. 1 and 2.

Oregon freshman Davina Mendiburu saw her 10-match winning streak end, losing 6-1, 6-4 to Catherin Hawley.

The Ducks have little time to rest as they compete in the four-day Pac-10 Championships beginning Thursday morning at Ojai, Calif.
