Cougar Baseball Game Suspended Due to Rain

April 27, 2001

PULLMAN - Friday's Washington State baseball game against the Washington Huskies was suspended in the sixth inning and will be finished Saturday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. The scheduled game for Saturday will be played approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.

The decision to continue the game Saturday was made nearly 30 minutes after play was halted for the second time because of rain. Play was stopped in the third inning for 50 minutes due to showers.

The Cougars were down 7-6 to the Huskies in the bottom of the sixth when play was halted, with no outs, no runners on base, and Garrett Alwert at the plate facing a one-and-two count againt Husky pitcher Matt Gardner. Gardner and Cougar starter Zach Fisher are the pitchers of record at this point in the contest.
