Glenn, Doherty Win Races At Drake Relays

University of Arizona athletes Brianna Glenn and Erin Doherty each won their respective races Saturday at the 92nd annual Drake Relays, capping the weekend of competition at the prestigious meet.
Glenn won the Special/Invitational 200m at the meet in an NCAA provisional time of 23.34. Glenn eased to the win over unattached athlete Angela Manuel, who ran 23.65. Glenn's time was even more impressive considering it was run into a 1.8mps headwind.
Doherty ran a personal-best time of 4:26.21 to win the collegiate/open 1,500m. She held off Kansas State's Amy Mortimer down the stretch for the win. Doherty's time is the No. 8 time in school history.
Senior Rori Kelly finished sixth in the collegiate/open 100m high hurdles, running a wind-aided time of 13.53. Sophomore Alexandra Komnos finished fifth in the Special 100m high hurdles in 13.60w. Both times were NCAA provisional qualifying times.
The women's sprint medley relay team of Kelly, Glenn, freshman Teresa Frierson and junior Cara Cline finished second in the event, running 3:51.17 in the event.
The men's 4x400m relay team finished fifth in the final, running 3:07.62. The team of sophomore Matt Lea, seniors Mike Kenyon and Keith Varga and junior Jules Doumbya ran its second-best time of the season after clocking 3:07.42 in Friday's preliminaries.
Junior Angela Foster finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 196-10 (60.01m). Freshman Beth Hoge placed seventh in the 1,500m that Doherty won, running 4:32.65. Freshman Amy Linnen was fourth in the special pole vault with a clearance of 12-7 1/4 (3.84m).
The Wildcats compete next weekend at the annual intrastate dual meet against Arizona State and Northern Arizona in Tempe, Ariz., on Saturday.
