Nicole Funn Leaves Women's Basketball Team

April 30, 2001

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Sophomore Nicole Funn has decided to leave the Oregon State University women's basketball team for personal reasons, announced head coach Judy Spoelstra on Monday.

Funn, a forward, has decided to leave Corvallis and return to the Los Angeles area.

The 6-0 sophomore helped lead the Beavers to their first post-season tournament appearance since 1996, ranking third on the team in scoring and rebounding with 11.2 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per contest. Funn averaged just over 29 minutes of action in 29 games with 20 starts. Her 35-point performance against Ohio University was the most points scored in a single game by a Pacific-10 Conference player during the 2000-01 season.

Funn has received a full release from Oregon State, making her eligible to compete at another university.
