April 30, 2001

CORVALLIS, Ore. - - The Oregon State women's golf team is headed to the NCAA West Regional Championships, marking the eighth consecutive trip to a regional competition for the Beavers.

The Beavers were picked as the 17th seed for the West Regional, which OSU hosts at Trysting Tree Golf Club. The 21-team field swings into action May 10-12. OSU tees off at 11:50 on Thursday, May 10 and at 7:30 Friday, May 11.

OSU's best finish at a regional was 10th, when the Beavers advanced to the NCAA Championships in 1998.

The Beavers enter the regionals coming off their best round of the year, as they shot 296 to wrap up eighth place at the Pac-10 Championships in Tempe, Ariz., on April 25. Stacie Ferguson comes into the championships hot off a tie for 13th at the Pac-10s.

Among the west regional field will be nine of the nation's top 25 teams and eight of the top 25 individuals.
