Women's Golf In Sixth

The UCLA women's golf team is tied for sixth place after the first round of the NCAA West Regionals, hosted by Oregon State at Trysting Tree Golf Course.

The Bruins trail fifth place Oregon State by one shot and lead four teams tied for seventh by a stroke. Arizona leads the field at 287, followed by Stanford at 302, Michigan State at 304 and Memphis at 305.

Freshman Gina Umeck and senior Laura Moffat each posted scores of 76 for UCLA. Both are tied for 22nd place. Senior Leilani Bagby is tied for 31st at 78 and freshman Melissa Martin is tied for 45th at 78. Freshman Saki Uechi shot a 79 and is tied for 55th.

Arizona's Natalie Gulbis leads the field after posting a score of 68. Teammate Lorena Ochoa is second at 70.

Second round action continues Friday.
