CORVALLIS, Ore. --- Washington State golfer Tasha Browner finished 11 over par in the first round of the NCAA West Regional Thursday to garner a tie for 80th place in the 107-member field.

Browner's score of 83 ties her with four other competitors, including fellow Pac-10 golfers Melanie Hunt from Arizona State and Stacie Ferguson of Oregon State. Browner is currently 15 shots behind current leader Natalie Gulbis of Arizona with two more rounds to play.

Browner, a junior from Tarzana, Calif., is making her second-straight postseason appearance in the West Regional after finishing 113th out of 126 players last year. This season Browner is Washington State's lone representative as she was one of two golfers selected to the tournament as an individual.

In team competition, Arizona is in first place with a mark of 287, 15 shots better than second-place Stanford. Michigan State, Memphis, and Ohio State round out the top five.

West Regional action continues Friday, May 12, with the final round scheduled for Saturday, May 13.
