Men's Golf Takes Sixth At Maxwell Invitational

Kevin Stadler and Hunter Mahan each shot 212 to tie for ninth and lead the No. 6 USC men's golf team to a sixth place showing at the Maxwell Invitational held at Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore, Okla., on May 12-13.

USC shot 858 as a team to finish 10 strokes back of tourney champ Tulsa (848). Oklahoma State was second (850), followed by Texas (853), Auburn and Oklahoma (854), then the Trojans.

Individually, Anders Hultman of Oklahoma State took top honors, shooting 204 to win by two strokes over Richard Ainley (206) of Louisiana-Lafayette. For the Trojans, Mahan fired two rounds of 69, while Stadler shot two rounds of 71 to finish eight back of Hultman in ninth place.

Also for USC, Alex Kuyumjian and Roderick Staunton tied for 31st with a score of 217, Nick Jones tied for 46th with 219 and David Oh tied for 68th at 223.

The Trojans are in action next at the NCAA West Regionals in Corvallis, Ore., on May 17-19.
