Baseball's Jason Cooper To Chat Live Wednesday

May 15, 2001

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford sophomore outfielder/designated hitter Jason Cooper will make a special visit to the chat room this Wednesday, May 16 (10:00 a.m., PDT). Cooper, a native of Moses Lake, Wash., will return to Eastern Washington for Stanford's final regular season series of the year at Washington State this Friday-Sunday, May 18-20 (6 pm, 1 pm, 1 pm). Cooper will chat with fans about the upcoming series and Stanford's chances in the 2001 NCAA Division I Baseball Championships. Stanford (39-14, 14-7 Pac-10) was selected to host an NCAA Regional for the sixth consecutive year earlier this week. The Cardinal currently sits in second place in the Pac-10, 2.0 games behind conference leader USC (36-16, 16-5 Pac-10) with three games remaining for both teams.

Stanford and Washington State will be meeting for the first time this season. Last year, the Cardinal swept a three-game series against the Cougars in Pullman, Wash. Cooper was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI in the series. Stanford holds a slim 14-13 advantage in the all-time series.
Cooper has successfully returned from a strained left knee early in the season that forced him to miss 21 games after jumping out to a big start with six homers in his first 19 games. Cooper hit a homer in his first start after returning from the injury at USC (4/22) and added another key three-run homer versus Arizona (5/11) that keyed a 5-4 comeback win for the Cardinal.

Cooper is hitting .291 overall with eight homers and 30 RBI in 32 games.

If you would like to ask your question for Cooper ahead of time, feel free to leave your questions now and we will save them for his arrival. Otherwise, he will chat with you on Wednesday.
