3 Bears Earn Softball All-Region Status

BERKELEY - Pitcher Jocelyn Forest, first baseman Veronica Nelson and second baseman Eryn Manahan have all be selected to the Louisville Slugger All-Pacific Region team.

Forest, who also earned first team All-Pac-10 honors, is 25-7 with a 0.73 ERA this season. She leads the conference in strikeouts with 331, and has walked only 38 batters.

Nelson gains the All-Region status for the second consecutive year. This season, she set the Cal season record with 18 home runs, while batting .364 with 49 RBI. For her career, the sophomore already owns Cal's career home run mark with 32.

Manahan has started all 64 games for the Bears at shortstop this season. She is batting .304 with 17 doubles and 27 RBI. Her 63 hits paces the team.

Cal returns to action Thursday when the Bears (49-14) face Connecticut in the first round of NCAA regional competition in Tallahassee, Fla. The sixth-ranked and second-seeded Bears are seeking their third straight Women's College World Series appearance.
