Men's Golfers Still In The Hunt At NCAA Regionals

The UCLA men's golf team is tied for fourth place after the second day at the NCAA West Regionals, hosted by Oregon State at Trysting Tree Golf Course.
The Bruins posted a team score of 298 Friday, 10-over par, and own a team total of 587, 11-over par. Sixth-ranked Arizona leads the 27-team field at 570, 16-under par. UC Irvine is second at 577, followed by Arizona at 578. The Bruins are tied with Stanford, which posted a 15-over par score of 303. Wake Forest, which began the day at even par, ballooned to 304 and is sixth at 592.
Individually, freshman John Merrick leads the Bruins at one-under par 143 after posting a four-over par score of 76 Friday. Junior Parker McLachlin is tied with teammate Steve Conway at 149, five-over par. Sophomore J.T. Kohut posted UCLA's best second round score, a 73, and sophomore Travis Johnson was in at 151 after posting a score of 78.
Arizona State's Matt Jones leads the field at nine-under par 135 after posting a 67, and teammate Jin Park is second at 137 after a second round score of 68. South Carolina's Kyle Thompson is third at 138 after posting a 67 in the second round.
Final round action continues Saturday.
