Claire Phillips Recipient of the West Region 2001 National Rowing Scholar-Athletes of the Year Award

Tulsa, Okla. -- The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced today the selection of the National Rowing Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Stanford's Claire Phillips was named to the West Region squad.
These are awarded to all NCAA Divisions. Criteria for determining the award winners include: the student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, the student-athlete must be in her 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of eligibility, and the student-athlete must have rowed in her institution's varsity boat for a minimum of 75% of the current season's races.
Phillips, a junior, is a Biology major. She also earned this honor last season as well as being a member of the Stanford Athletic Honor Roll from 1998-2000.
