Sun Devil Men's Golfer Jeff Quinney Earns Academic Honor

NORMAN, Okla. - The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the professional association of men's college golf coaches, has recognized Arizona State senior finance major Jeff Quinney as a 2001 GCAA All-America Scholar.
Quinney, the 2000 U.S. Amateur Champion and 2001 co-Pac-10 Player of the Year, posted six top-10 and three top-five finishes this year in 11 events and posted a 72.15 stroke average, including a victory at the Las Vegas Intercollegiate. He shot 13-under 203 (69-67-67). He finished his career with 18 top-10 finishes in 49 outings and a 72.40 stroke average.
All-America Scholars are recognized for their performances athletically and scholastically. To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically, maintain a minimum grade-point average, compete in at least 75 percent of his team's varsity competitive rounds, and maintain a minimum stroke average set by the GCAA.
Arizona State finished sixth at this year's NCAA Championships, its 13th top-10 appearance in the past 14 seasons.
