UW's Marshall Drafted By Philadelphia Phillies

SEATTLE - Andre Marshall, an outfielder on the University of Washington baseball team, was the onlyHusky player selected on the first day of the Major League Baseball draft.

Marshall, a junior from Oak Harbor, Wash. (Oak Harbor High/Walla Walla CC), wasselected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 13th round Tuesday. The 6-foot-4 switch hitterwas the 380th overall pick. The first 20 rounds of the draft were completed on Tuesday.The final 30 rounds will be take place Wednesday.

In the 2001 season, his only year at Washington, Marshall played in 26 games and started16 in center field for the Huskies. He batted .222 (14-for-63) with three doubles, one homerun and eight runs batted in. He also played error-free in the oufield and was noted for hisexcellent fielding and speed.
