Brandon Smith Named to Pac-10 All-Academic Men's Golf Team

TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's golfer Brandon Smith was selected to the Pacific-10 Conference's All-Academic team for men's golf, the league announced Tuesday.

Smith, a junior from Veradale, Wash., was one of six golfers named to the first team. A finance major with a 3.77 grade point average, he played in eight tournaments for the Wildcats this year, including four varsity events, and finished 2000-01 ranked sixth on the squad with a 74.25 stroke average. Smith tallied five rounds at par or better and collected three top-20 finishes. Smith's best finish of the year (T8th) came at the 49er Collegiate Classic and his first-round 68 and 217 total (+4) were season lows.

The Wildcats finished the 2000-01 campaign with a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships. Along the way, UA won two team events, including the CGF Match Play National Championship, and claimed individual medalist honors three times.
