UW Tennis Players Receive Academic Accolades

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington senior Kristina Kraszewski, who completed her career as a three-time All-American, was one of four Huskies honored as second-team members of the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic tennis team announced on Tuesday by the conference office.
Kraszewski (Torrance, Calif.) qualified for the NCAA singles championships in each of her four seasons, advancing to the round of 16 this season. She is the school-record-holder for career singles victories with 111. A business major, Kraszewski has a 3.41 grade point average.
The Husky men's team had three second-team honorees, including seniors Jeremy Berman (Kirkland, Wash./Newport HS) and Andy Posavac (Hoarsching, Austria) along with sophomore Ari Strasberg (Ramat-Hasaron, Israel). Berman has a 3.52 GPA in psychology, Posavac has a 3.40 GPA in business and Strasberg has a 3.43 GPA in pre-business.
Five Huskies garnered honorable mention all-academic recognition, including a trio of sophomores from the women's team: Andrea Coulter (Calgary, Canada), Colleen Gray (Granite Bay, Calif.) and Darija Klaic (Zupanja, Croatia). The men's team was represented by sophomore Matt Hanlin (Birmingham, England) and senior Marius Lunde (Oslo, Norway).
The 2000-01 campaign was the finest season ever Washington tennis as both teams advanced to the NCAA finals. The Husky men reached the round of 16 for the first time ever. They posted a 20-8 record en route to a No. 17 final ranking.
The Washington women registered their best finish ever, reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA championships. The Huskies finished No. 11 in the final rankings with a 21-8 record.
