Sands, Djahangiri Receive Pac-10 Accolades

Walnut Creek, CA --UCLA senior Chris Sands and sophomore Erfan Djahangiri were selected to the All-Academic Pac-10 teams announced by the Conference yesterday. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and either be a starter or significant substitute. Sands was named to the second team, while Djahangiri received honorable mention honors.
Sands, who primarily played at the No. 6 slot compiled a record of 12-9 in singles, while Djahangiri finished the season with a 32-10 mark playing at Nos. 3, 4 and 5. Djahangri also picked up a victory in NCAA tournament action, defeating SMU's Lukasz Senczyszyn 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 5 position.
