Browner Qualifies For United States Women's Amateur

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University golfer Tasha Browner has qualified for the United States Women's Amateur Championship, July 30-Aug. 4 at the Flint Hills National Golf Club in Andover, Kan.
Browner qualified by shooting a 76 at the Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park, Calif., July 10. The returning senior letterwinner from Tarzana, Calif., finished in the required Top 12 of her section to advance to the championship.
'I am really excited,' Browner said of reaching the championships. 'I am going to spend the next week and a half practicing hard.'
'It is wonderful to have Tasha qualify,' said Cougar head coach Walt Williams. 'This is another step along the way for Tasha to building a great career for herself.'
Browner will compete in a format that includes both stroke and match play. Players will begin the championship with two days of stroke play with the 64 lowest scores advancing to compete in three days of match play.
The final three days of the Amateur Championship will be broadcast by ESPN. The network is scheduled to broadcast from noon to 2 p.m. Pacific Thursday, Aug. 2 and Saturday, Aug. 4 and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3.
Browner heads into the Amateur coming off a fourth place finish at the California Women's Championship, which took place July 16-18 at The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon, Calif.
