Four Bruins Compete in Mercedes-Benz Cup Qualifying

Los Angeles - Bruin men's tennis player Travis Rettenmaier, and three former UCLA players, were all in action Saturday competing in the 32-player qualifying draw for the Mercedes-Benz Cup tennis tournament beginning Monday at UCLA's Los Angeles Tennis Center.
Rettenmaier, who will be a junior at UCLA next season, cruised in his first match of the day, defeating Torrey Gambill, the brother of Jan-Michael Gambill, 6-1, 6-0. In his second match of the day, however, Rettenmaier fell to Glenn Weiner, 6-3, 6-0.
Also competing in the qualifying draw Saturday were former Bruins Zach Fleishman, Vince Allegre and Brandon Kramer.
Fleishman fell in the first round to Kevin Ullyett of Zimbabwe, 6-4, 6-4. Allegre was beaten by Jack Brasingon, 6-4, 6-3 and Kramer was ousted in the first round by Weiner, 6-3, 6-4.
Qualifying continues tomorrow at UCLA's Sunset Courts. Four players will earn spots into the main draw of the Mercedes-Benz Cup.
