Bruin Swimmers Compete at Janet Evans Invitational

This past weekend, Bruins competed at the Janet Evans Invitational, held at the McDonald Swim Stadium in Los Angeles. The event began Thursday, July 19th and concluded Sunday, July 22.
On Friday, Stacy Kearney finished fourth (2:22.48) in the 200m Backstroke bonus final, 20th overall. Katie Younglove finished fifth in the 200m Butterfly consolation final and 13th overall in a time of 2:19.90. In the 400m Freestyle Relay, the UCLA team of Marilyn Chua, Carolyn Conrad, Ashley Grissom and Stacy Kearney finished 14th in a time of 4:04.25.
In Saturday's finals, Lyndee Hovsepian and Jen Noddle competed in the 200m Breaststroke consolation final. Hovsepian finished third (2:40.94), 12th overall, and Noddle finished fourth (2:42.08), 13th overall.
During the last day of competition, Bruins competed in the 100m Breaststroke, 100m Butterfly, 200m Individual Medley and the 400m Medley Relay. In the 100m Breaststroke, Leslie Hovsepian placed eighth in a time of 1:15.04, Jen Noddle finished second (1:14.27) in the consolation final, 10th overall, and Lyndee Hovsepian finished eighth in the consolation final, 16th overall. In the finals of the 100m Butterfly, Kristen Lewis finished eighth in 1:03.69 and Katie Younglove finished second (1:03.51) in the consolation final, 10th overall. Former Bruin Beth Goodwin won the event in 1:00.40. Stacy Kearney finished second in the bonus final of the 200m Individual Medley in a time of 2:22.83, placing her 18th overall. And, Kristen Lewis competed in the 400m Medley Relay as a member of the Orinda `B' club team that finished eighth in 4:37.18.
