Trepagnier Signs With Cavaliers

Aug. 6, 2001

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed second-round draft pick Jeff Trepagnier following his impressive play in the NBA's summer league, the team announced today.

The 6-4 Trepagnier, who helped lead USC to the Elite Eight in the 2001 NCAA tournament, reportedly signed a one-year contract for the NBA minimum $332,817.

'We were very pleased with Jeff's play on our summer league team,' Cavaliers general manager Jim Paxson said. 'We really like his athleticism, his defensive skills and his ability to get out on the open floor.'

During six games in Salt Lake City last month, Trepagnier averaged 13 points a game, second among Cavaliers. Trepagnier started 75 of his 106 games at USC. He finished second on USC's career chart in steals (204), fourth in blocked shots (104), 15th in three-pointers (61) and 15th in scoring (1,128).
