ASU Football Seals Home And Home Series With Notre Dame Beginning In 2013

Aug. 7, 2001

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State University and the University of Notre Dame have signed an agreement to play a future home and home football series, Sun Devil Director of Athletics Gene Smith announced Tuesday.

ASU will travel to play in South Bend on Saturday, October 5, 2013 while the Fighting Irish will visit Tempe on Saturday, October 25, 2014.

' I am thrilled to facilitate this series for our alumni and fan base,' says Smith. 'We are committed to scheduling quality opponents in football and even though the matchup will take place years from now, it represents the first opportunity to schedule Notre Dame. Many of these series are scheduled years in advance.'

Arizona State and Notre Dame have met twice before on the gridiron, with the Irish winning 28-9 in Tempe in 1998 and 48-17 in South Bend in 1999.
