California Hosts 'Get A Girl Golfing' Clinic

BERKELEY - The California women's golf team will host a free clinic on Fri., Aug. 24, as part of the national 'Get a Girl Golfing Day.'

This fun introduction to the game of golf runs from 1 p.m.-3 p.m., at Tilden Park Golf Course in Berkeley. Check-in is at 12:30 p.m. Parents are asked to either stay on the premises or to be at the golf course for pick-up by 2:45 p.m. sharp.

Interested girls ages 8-17 should contact Cal head coach Nancy McDaniel at 510-643-7940. Please leave your name, age and phone number and consider yourself signed up. No experience is necessary, but space is limited to the first 50 individuals that sign up.

Participants are asked to bring golf clubs if they own them, but they are not required.

Members of the Cal golf team, along with McDaniel, will offer instruction in chipping, putting and full shots.

Cal begins its fall season at the NCAA Fall Preview, Sept. 24-26, in Seattle, Wash. Last season, the Bears finished 19th in their first appearance at the NCAA Championship.
