Schott Tabbed a Preseason All-American By Soccer Buzz

BERKELEY - California junior forward Laura Schott continues to garner preseason honors. After being tabbed a second team preseason All-American by earlier in the week, today she was named to Soccer Buzz's Elite 12 preseason All-America team.

Schott joins Virginia's Lori Lindsey, North Carolina's Danielle Borgman and Jena Kluegel, and Penn State's Christie Welsh and Emily Oleksiuk, to give the preseason team six of the first team All-Americas from the 2000 soccer season.

Soccer Buzz's Preseason National Player of the Year will soon be announced from among its 12 preseason All-Americans.

Following the 2000 season, Schott also earned first team All-America honors from the NSCAA and was picked as one of Soccer America's MVPs after leading the Pac-10 with 47 points and 23 goals.

The Golden Bears open the 2001 season against Pacific, Friday, Aug. 31, at 4:30 p.m., in the second game of the Cal Invitational at Edwards Stadium.
