McArthur to Undergo Arm Surgery Monday

Sept. 2, 2001

BERKELEY - Geoff McArthur, a sophomore starting wide receiver for the Cal football team, will undergo triceps surgery on his right arm Monday morning due to a non-football injury sustained last night, head coach Tom Holmoe announced today.

Dr. Bob Eppley, an orthopedic surgeon, is scheduled to perform the procedure at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley.

McArthur, who caught 20 passes for 336 yards as a freshman last year, lacerated the triceps muscle in the accident and will be sidelined for a minimum of two to three weeks. He had four receptions for 32 yards vs. Illinois Saturday.

Senior Sean Currin will replace McArthur in the starting lineup this Saturday, when Cal hosts BYU at Memorial Stadium.
