Kyla Sabo Named to Soccer Buzz National Elite Team of the Week

Sept. 5, 2001

NEW YORK - California senior forward Kyla Sabo was named to Soccer Buzz's first ever National Elite Team of the Week for her play in the California Invitational last weekend.

Each week during the season, Buzz selects a team of elite players based on performances during games that week.

Overall, Sabo posted three goals and an assist to help Cal defend its 2000 invitational title.

In Friday's 4-0 win over Pacific, the Fremont product scored the Bears second goal.

More impressively, against No. 24 Michigan, Sabo helped the Bears overcome a 2-1 halftime deficit to win 4-2. She tallied two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist on Kassie Doubrava's game-sealing goal.

After the first weekend of play, Sabo leads Cal with seven points (3G, 1A). She already has tallied half of the six goals she posted last season.
