Volleyball Dominates USF in the Bay Area

Sept. 6, 2001

San Francisco, Cal. - Gina Schmidt and Lori Daedelow recorded double-doubles to lead the Oregon State University volleyball team (3-1) to a three-game non-conference victory over the University of San Francisco (2-2) Wednesday. The Beavers won by scores of 30-19, 30-24, and 30-18.

'I was encouraged by our ability to close out this match in three games, after failing to do so last weekend,' Beaver Head Coach Nancy Somera said. 'We dominated in all areas -- we passed well, and our offense was well distributed.'

Schmidt, who has had a double-double in every match this season, hit .333 for the night and had match highs of 12 kills and 15 digs. Daedelow hit a team best .455, and added 11 kills and 14 digs.

Oregon State returns to action Friday morning against UC Irvine at the Fiesta Bowl Tournament in Flagstaff, Ariz. The Beavers will also play Radford and Northern Arizona in the two-day tournament.
