Cross Country Finishes Fourth At Fullerton Invitational

Senior Sarah Ellis ran the 5000-meter run in 17:56.8 to lead the Women of Troy cross country team to a fourth-place finish in their season operner at the Cal State Fullerton Cross Country Invitational held at Carbon Canyon Park in Brea, Calif., on Saturday (Sept. 1).
Ellis' sixth-place finish led USC, followed by freshman Lisa Rotsel in 23rd (18:40.5) and senior Sinfo Orosco in 25th (18:46.6).
Stanford won the team title, followed by UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, USC and Cal State Fullerton.
Stanford also took the top four individual spots, led by Mariel Ettinger in first (17:33.1).
Also for USC, junior Danielle Morrell was 41st (19:40.0), freshman Harlye Maya was 51st (19:58.3), freshman Ligaya Lange placed 53rd (19:59.2), sophomore Erin Ferguson was 54th (19:59.7), freshman Heather Hennessy took 66th (20:13.4), sophomore Jessica Cuevas placed 86th (20:47.3), junior Holly Peters was 89th (20:58.6), freshman Gina Clayton was 105th (21:18.2) and sophomore Giselle Torres was 129th (23:14.2).
USC next springs into action at the UC Irvine Invitational on Sept. 8.
