Oregon Volleyball Defeats Boise State 3-1 In Final Match Of Oregon Classic

EUGENE - The University of Oregon volleyball team (8-1) defeated Boise State 30-18, 30-23, 28-30, 37-35 in the final match of the Oregon Classic at McArthur Court in Eugene Saturday evening. The Ducks finished the tournament 3-1, losing to tournament champion Eastern Washington.
Tobbagi had her first 20-kill match of the season against the Broncos and also posted her third double double of the tourney, 21 kills, 12 digs. Martin had 14 kills and four blocks in the final match.
'I thought we played some matches that forced us into moments that we'll see in the conference,' Oregon head coach Carl Ferreira said. 'Our players gained confidence about what it takes to succeed at the game speed level we'll see in the Pac-10.'
In Oregon's opening match, the Ducks narrowly defeated Cal State Northridge, 30-24, 31-29, 23-30, 20-30, 15-12.
The Ducks were up 2-0 before the Matadors rallied to win games 3 and 4. With Oregon trailing 12-8 in Game 5, junior Stephanie Martin had a kill and two assisted blocks to bring Oregon back in it and tie the game 12-12. The Matadors would not score again and two kills by Monique Tobbagi and a final by Martin secured the win for the Dukcs.
Junior Lindsay Closs led the Ducks with 19 kills and a season-high nine blocks. Tobbagi had her second double-double of the tournament with 17 kills and 13 digs. Martin added 14 kills, five digs and six blocks.
