Oregon State Postpones Montana State Football Game

Sept. 13, 2001

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Through conversations over the last 48 hours, officials at Montana State University and Oregon State University have made the decision to postpone this Saturday's game scheduled for Reser Stadium.

At this time, no date to reschedule the game has been announced. Both schools will monitor the opportunities to play the game at a later date as the season unfolds.

Director of Athletics, Mitch Barnhart said, 'Our nation has experienced an unprecedented tragedy which makes decisions of this nature quite minimal but very difficult. The emotions of our country, the logistics, and safety of players and fans are definite concerns for both our programs and we think at this time we should wait for a later date to try to play this college football game.

'Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with those affected by the events of Tuesday morning.'

Ticket information will be forthcoming as decisions are reached to reschedule or cancel the game.

'We certainly hope to provide our fans and students an opportunity at a later date to watch Oregon State and Montana State play football,' said Barnhart. 'Until that time, we would ask that you hold on to your tickets and wait for more information.

'We certainly appreciate everyone's patience as we move forward.'
