UW Athletics to Support Red Cross with Donation Efforts

Sept. 17, 2001

Seattle - The Washington athletic department will hold a fund drive Saturday in conjunction with the Huskies' football game against Idaho. The money collected will be donated through the American Red Cross to assist the victims of last week's Husky plane crash in Mexico, the terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, and other national disasters.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PT at Husky Stadium.

Husky fans attending the game can make monetary donations at the entrance to all stadium gates. Any checks presented should be made out to: American Red Cross and the memo line should state 'National Disaster Relief.'

'We are proud to be able to assist the American Red Cross with their outstanding efforts at this time of need in our country,' says Husky athletic director Barbara Hedges. 'The Red Cross has been swamped with requests for aid during the past week, and we are happy to coordinate this program to raise funds.'

Fans who do not attend Saturday's game can mail contributions to:
