Ducks Dodge Trojans With Dramatic Last Minute Drive!

EUGENE, Ore. - Jared Siegel kicked a 32-yard field goal with 12 secondsleft as No. 7 Oregon pulled off yet another breathtaking victory over SouthernCalifornia, 24-22 Saturday night.

Steve Smith had three interceptions, and Joey Harrington directed anotherlate-game comeback for the Ducks (3-0, 1-0 Pac-10), who extended their homewinning streak to 23.

Carson Palmer had one of the best passing games in Southern Cal history,throwing for 411 yards to lead a furious comeback by the Trojans (1-2, 0-1).

David Davis' 40-yard field goal put Southern Cal ahead 22-21 with 10:30left, and Oregon looked finished when the Ducks had a 43-yard field goalblocked with 1:21 left.

The Ducks got the ball back with 56 seconds left, and Harrington directedhis team 61 yards in just 44 seconds. The key play was a 22-yard pass to KeenanHowry. Three plays later, Siegel came on.

It was another wild night at Autzen Stadium. In 1998, the Ducks won 17-13,and the following year, Oregon pulled out a 33-30 victory in triple-overtime.

With Southern Cal trailing 21-6 at halftime, Palmer connected with SultanMcCullough on a 75-yard touchdown in the third quarter, followed by a 93-yarderto Kareem Kelly that brought the Trojans to 21-19 early in the fourth.

For the first time in school history, Oregon beat the Trojans for the fourthtime. The Ducks have won five out of six in the series after losing 15 of 17from 1972-93.
