Bruins 15th After First Round at NCAA Fall Preview

The UCLA women's golf team is in 15th place after the first round of the NCAA Fall Preview hosted by the University of Washington at Washington National Golf Course in Seattle.

The Bruins posted an 18-hole score of 306, 18-over par, and trail 14th place Texas by two shots. TCU and Washington are tied for 17th at 307.

Tennessee leads the field at 293, followed by Ohio State at 294 and USC at 298.

Individually, sophomore Gina Umeck was the Bruins' top scorer, posting a three-over par 75. She is tied for 29th. Sophomore Krystal Shearer is tied for 43rd after posting a score of 76, and Saki Uechi is tied for 53rd after carding a score of 77. Sophomore Melissa Martin and senior Alicia Um each shot 78 and are tier 63rd.

Duke's Virada Nirapathpongporn and Tennessee's Young-A Yang are tied for first place with two under par 70s. Three players are tied for third.

Second round action continues Tuesday.
