Men's Soccer Player of the Week (9/25/01)

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- CALIFORNIA senior forward Austin Ripmaster has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 17-23, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Ripmaster, from Boulder, Colo., tallied two goals and one assist on the weekend to lead the Golden Bears (3-3-0) to a pair of victories over No. 14 San Jose State and Cal Poly. Ripmaster notched two goals in the 3-2 upset win over the Spartans Sept. 18, snapping SJSU's 25-game win streak. He added another goal in the 4-0 shutout of the Mustangs Sept. 22.
The win over San Jose State marked the Golden Bears' first over a ranked opponent since August 2000. The Stanford Invitational is up next for Cal, as it takes on Fresno State Friday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m. and Dartmouth Sunday, Sept. 30 at 11:30 a.m.
This is the first weekly honor for Ripmaster and California's second Player of the Week honor all-time.
