Softball Plays Host To Alumnae Game Saturday

Sept. 25, 2001

SEATTLE - Some of the biggest names in Washington softball history will return to Husky Softball Stadium this Saturday, Sept. 29, for an alumnae game, slated for a 10 a.m. start. Over 25 alumnae are expected to attend the game, which will pit members of the alumnae against the 2002 edition of the Washington softball team.

Those expected to attend the game include 14 of the program's 15 All-Americans including: Tia Bollinger, Shelley Brown, Michelle Church, Jaime Clark, Jennifer Cline, Eve Gaw, Jamie Graves, Kelly Hauxhurst, Rosie Leutzinger, Angie Marzetta, Heather Meyer, Becky Newbry, Sara Pickering and Jennifer Spediacci.

The game will help celebrate the program's 10th season. Since 1993, Washington has made a name for itself as one of the nation's elite programs, recording NCAA runner-up finishes in 1996 and 1999, in addition to eight consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.

This will be the only opportunity to see the 2002 Washington softball team in action in Seattle prior to the start of next year's season schedule. Fans are welcome and admission to the game is free.
