Arizona Tennis Wraps up Tourney Play on a Winning Note

SAN DIEGO - Arizona's four player co-ed team won all five of its matches en route to a 30-6 victory over Southern Methodist Sunday at the World Team Tennis National Collegiate Championships.
With the victory, the Cats earned seventh place in the 16-team field.
UA would open the fray with an 18-4 scoring run that would carry the squad to a win.
Wildcat freshmen Marie-Pier Pouliot and Maja Mlakar opened the contest with a doubles victory over SMU's Katie Pruett and Kit Carson, 6-1.
Arizona senior Steven Capriati would continue the momentum defeating the Mustangs' James Bell, 6-1.
Capriati and sophomore Carl Hagman outlasted Southern Methodist's doubles team of Bell and Eric Cohn, 6-2, to open up a comfortable lead for the Cats.
For the tournament, the Wildcats posted a 3-2 record.
The women's tennis team returns to action the weekend of Oct. 11-14, when it travels to Los Angeles for the ITA All-American Tournament. The men's squad will travel to Stone Mountain, Ga., for the ITA-All-American Tournament, Oct. 6-11.
