Fall Baseball Season Comes To An End

SEATTLE - The Washington baseball team will close out its 2001 fall practice season with the Alumni Game this Saturday, Oct. 6, followed by the annual Fall World Series, a series of five intra-squad games next week.

Saturday's Alumni Game festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. at Husky Ballpark. A catered dinner will be served at a cost of $25 per person. At 6:30 p.m., the Washington varsity takes the field against a team of alumni.

Those wishing to eat dinner should call the Washington baseball office at (206) 543-9365 and order ahead.

The Fall World Series begins Sunday, Oct. 7, at 7:00 p.m. with the first of five games. The series continues Monday, Oct. 8, and Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday's game times will be determined based on the Mariners' postseason schedule.

All games are at Husky Ballpark and are open to the public at no cost.

The Huskies open the 2002 season next Feb. 14 at a tournament in Phoenix, Ariz. The home opener is March 1 vs. Utah.
