Baysa Chosen to National Elite Team of the Week

EUGENE, Ore. - Soccer Buzz selected University of Oregon senior women's soccer player Chalise Baysa to its national Elite Team of the Week.
'I'm thrilled for her to get some national recognition,' sixth-year Oregon coach Bill Steffen said. 'I've felt she's deserved it for a long time. I'm glad to see the rest of the country being aware of her contributions.'
Baysa, a forward from Port Orchard, Wash., helped Oregon to victories over San Diego, ranked No. 19 in the Soccer Buzz poll, and Eastern Washington last week. Against San Diego, she scored the game-winner in the 45th minute in the Ducks' 3-0 upset. The goal moved her to first place all-time at Oregon with seven career game-winning goals.
In the Eastern Washingon match, Baysa tallied two goals to spark Oregon to a 5-0 victory. Baysa, who entered the match tied with Erin Anderson atop the UO career points list with 53, took sole possession of the record in the game's 19th minute with a goal from from 10 yards out. Baysa added a goal early in the second half, extending her school career points record to 57. She also had three shots in the game which gave her 125 for her career to pass Sierra Marsh by one in that category. She now holds Oregon's career records in goals (27), points and shots.
Baysa, a four-year starter at Oregon, ranks second on the Ducks with four goals and eight points this season. Oregon is off to its best start in the program's six-year existence at 5-1-1 and has won a school-record four straight. The Ducks next play host to Portland today at 3 p.m. and Portland State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
