Oct. 4, 2001
BERKELEY - Attention Cal students! Student tickets for the 2001-02 Golden Bear men's basketball season are on sale now.
Students can purchase tickets to Cal's 20-game home schedule one of three ways:
The ticket office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but if you want to wait until Midnite Madness, be sure to arrive early. Doors to Haas Pavilion will open at 10:30 p.m. and staff will be on hand to make the process as easy as possible. Of course, you can purchase tickets at your own convenience 24 hours a day using Cal's on-line ticketing system.
Tickets for all 20 games cost only $75.
For only $5 more, you can become a member of The Bench. Among the benefits of being part of The Bench are courtside seating, a free t-shirt, a preseason chalk-talk by head coach Ben Braun and exclusive Bench parties at Blake's on Telegraph.
The season gets underway with a pair of exhibition games Nov. 5 and 9. The first real test for the Bears comes Nov. 15-16 when Cal hosts the BCA Classic in Haas Pavilion, featuring defending Ivy League champion Princeton, preseason Top 15 St. Joseph's and Eastern Washington. Other schools coming to face off against the Bears in Berkeley include 2001 NCAA Sweet 16 participant Penn State, perennial power New Mexico, and Fresno State in a rematch of Cal's 2001 first round NCAA Tournament game.
The home Pac-10 slate starts Sunday, Jan. 6 when Stanford makes its annual visit to campus and wraps up the weekend of Feb. 21-23 when UCLA and USC come to town.
The Bears return four starters from their NCAA team that posted a 20-11 record last season. Leading the way are point guard Shantay Legans, who averaged 9.5 points and 4.8 assists last year, and senior center Solomon Hughes, the defending Pac-10 leader in field goal shooting (62.9 percent).
Avoid the rush, get your tickets early and come out to support the Bears.
