<b>Wildcat Cross Country heads to Maine for invitational</b>

The Meet: Arizona will send it's men's and women's cross country teams to Orono, Maine for the Murray Keatinge Invitaional. Hosted by the University of Maine, the races will be ran in the Dwight B. Demeritt University Forest near the University of Maine's campus in Orono, Maine. The men's 8K will take off at 11:00 a.m. EST. The women will follow with their 5K race at 12:00 p.m. EST. The competition will include Stanford, Michigan, Purdue, and Maine along with several other teams.
Who's Going?: The Wildcats will field teams of nine men and nine women. Competing for the men will be: Mark Anderson, Eric Bohn, Mike Cramer, Kevin Engelhardt, Kyle Goklish, Matt McInvale, Tom Prindiville, and Steve Smith. The women will field a team of: Kim Bates, Jennifer Burris, Tara Chaplin, Cara Cline, Erin Doherty, Nicole Gurnicz, Beth Hoge, Harisimran Khalsa, and Abby Peters.
On the men's side: Senior Mike Cramer will lead the Wildcats this season in their quest for a national championship. Right behind him will be fellow seniors Tom Prindiville and Steve Smith. Freshman Mark Anderson, junior Kyle Goklish, junior transfer Eric Bohn and sophomore Kevin Engelhardt will fill out the top seven for the men. Also competing for the Wildcats will be junior-college transfer Thomas Opio and sophomores Matt McInvale and Mike Howard who are both coming off injuries.
As for the women: Senior Tara Chaplin will continue to lead the Wildcat women into the next season. She could be challenged by another fellow senior Abby Peters. Another senior, Erin Doherty, should compete at the number-three spot. Following her will be sophomore Beth Hoge, junior Kim Bates and senior Jennifer Burris. The rest of the line-up should be filled out by junior Harisimran Khalsa, junior Cara Cline and sophomore Andrea Schwartz. Freshman Amber Steen will most likely redshirt the season due to a stress fracture.
Last week: The Arizona women's team had a strong showing at the Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minn. Their 3rd place finish established them among this year's top teams. The men's team struggled in their first meet of the year as they finished 16th. The women were led by Tara Chaplin who placed 4th in 20:42.5. Kyle Goklish led the men with his 45th place finish in 24:55.7.
