Husky Women's Golfers Head to Oregon State
Oct. 7, 2001
Seattle - After a 16th-place finish at the rain-shortened NCAA Fall Preview, the Washington women's golf team returns to tournament play this week at Oregon State's Shanico Invitational. The 19-team tournament will be held at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis. The 54-hole event will be held Oct. 8-10.
Tee times will be fixed the first two rounds, and a shotgun start will kick off the final 18. Play begins from the first and 10th tees at 8:30 on Monday and Tuesday, and play starts at 9:00 Wednesday morning. Five players will compete, with the low four scores counting toward the team total. Trysting Tree Golf Club, which opened in 1988, carries a par of 72 and plays to 6,072 yards for the Shanico.
In addition to the Huskies and host Beavers, this year's field includes 12th-ranked New Mexico, 18th-ranked Arizona, Boise State, BYU, California, Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Idaho, Long Beach St., UNLV, Northern Arizona, Oregon, Portland State, Stanford, San Francisco, Washington State, and Weber State.
Washington's lineup will include Kelli Kamimura playing in the number-one position followed by Paige Mackenzie, Lindsay Morgan, Louise Friberg and Bianca Clark. Michelle Grafos will compete as an individual.
