WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- WASHINGTON midfielder C.J. Klaas has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 2-8, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Klaas, from Cherry Valley, Ill., led an aggressive Husky defense in its 1-0 overtime shutout victory over Santa Clara Oct. 5. Klaas helped limit SCU to 7 shots in the road win, while the Huskies tallied 12.

It was the third shutout of the season for Washington (7-1-0, 0-0-0), its second overtime game, and increased the team's current win streak to five games. Klaas is the team leader in shots this season, with 24.

This is the first weekly honor for Klaas and Washington's fourth Player of the Week honor all-time.
