WSU Tennis Heads To Provo For BYU Invitational

THIS WEEK: The Cougars women's tennis team ventures to Provo, Utah for the BYU Invitational Friday. Aside from the Cougars, the five-team invitational will include BYU, Boise State, Colorado State and Utah. The tournament runs through Saturday. Erica Perkins and Stacy McKenna are competing at the Riviera Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The tourney will continue though Sunday. HEAD COACH CARI GROCE ON THIS WEEKEND: 'The All-American Championships give Erica (Perkins) and Stacy (McKenna) an opportunity to play the top players in the country. This is the first Grand Slam of the year, and it's a great chance to see where we are and showcase our skills.'

LAST TIME OUT: Washington State recorded a solid performance at the Alabama Invitational Sept. 28-30. Led by sophomore Lorena Arias, who won a singles and doubles title, the Cougars won a tournament-best three singles titles to go with their two doubles titles.

COUGARS IN THE RANKINGS: The Cougars are anchored by Erica Perkins, a senior ranked 24th, and Stacy McKenna, a sophomore ranked 83rd nationally. Combined they form the No. 27 doubles team.

NEXT WEEK: The Cougars next competition will be at the ITA Regional Tournament Oct. 26-29 in Stanford.
