Maui Invitational Brackets Announced

Oct. 12, 2001

College basketball's premier early season tournament has changed its name to the EA Sports Maui Invitational. What has not changed is the tournament's status as the place to see some great basketball games.

Defending national champion and preseason number one Duke and consensus pre-season player of the year Jason Williams will not have an easy road to their third Maui title. If they can get by 2001 NIT team Seton Hall and new coach Louis Orr in the first round, they will face either South Carolina and new head coach Dave Odom, or the famed 'giant killers' from Chaminade University in the second round.

The other side of the bracket boasts two storied programs with pre-season Top 10 rankings in Kansas, which will square off against Ball State, and UCLA, who matches up with Houston.

The 18th edition of the EA Sports Maui Invitational Hosted by Chaminade University will be played November 19, 20 and 21, 2001 at the 2,400-seat Lahaina Civic Center on the Hawaiian Island of Maui.
