UW Football Game at Miami Scheduled for Prime Time
Oct. 16, 2001
ABC Sports and the Pacific-10 Conference announced today that Washington's Nov. 24 football game at Miami has been scheduled for a 5 p.m. PT kickoff. The Huskies and Hurricanes will play before a split-national audience. Stanford's home game with Notre Dame will also be televised during the same time slot.
Washington and Miami were originally slated to play on Sept. 15 at the Orange Bowl before all college football games for that weekend were cancelled following the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.
The game was originally scheduled to be aired by ABC Sports at 12:30 p.m. PT to a national television audience.
The Miami game will mark the first time since the 1983 season the Huskies have played that late into the month of November. That season Washington played its Apple Cup contest against cross-state rival Washington State on Nov. 29. This year's Miami game marks the first time since the 1948 season that the Huskies have not ended the regular season with their Apple Cup matchup against the Cougars. The Huskies played Notre Dame to end the 1948 season.
