Arizona Baseball Announces Time For Exhibition Vs. Colorado Rockies, Other Schedule Changes
Oct. 18, 2001
TUCSON, Ariz.- The Arizona baseball program has announced that the Feb. 28, 2002 game against the Colorado Rockies will be played at 1:05 p.m. at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson. The exhibition game will be the first major league team the Wildcats have faced since they took on Randy Johnson in his Arizona Diamondbacks spring debut in 1999. The Rockies have called Tucson their Spring Training home since 1993.
Other schedule changes have been made as well. The March 11 game against Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles has been canceled. Time changes for three games have also been approved. The Jan. 26 game against New Mexico and the March 2 game against St. Mary's (Calif.), have been rescheduled for 3 and 5 p.m. starts, respectively. And Arizona's annual match-up with Grand Canyon University, on April 16, has been changed from 7 p.m. to 3.
The Wildcats, who have completed the halfway mark of fall ball, still have six intrasquad games remaining in October. Friday, October 26 is scheduled as scout day for the team. The coaching staff and players have invited all the area scouts to come and check out the preseason action and encourage all fans to join them as well. First pitch for the next-to-last intrasquad game on that day is set for 4 p.m.
