Oct. 21, 2001
CORVALLIS, Ore. - -
Sophomore Laura Skinner turned in a 72 on Sunday to help the Oregon State women's golf squad to a 12th-place finish at the Stanford Intercollegiate with a team score of 917, including a final-round 305.
Skinner's tie for 24th was the best finish of her career, and the Boise, Idaho native has now topped her career-best in each of the last two tournaments. Skinner shot 222 over the weekend, which was the lowest three-round score of the year for OSU.
Ferguson lowered her score in each of the three rounds, culminating with a 73 on Sunday. Pendleton carded a final-round 80 after opening with a 73 and 75.
'We played alright today, some people had a rough start and were four or five over right away, which is tough,' 12th-year head coach Rise Lakowske said. 'I was really pleased with the way Stacie and Laura played today.'
'Stacie had 31 putts today, and typically her weakness has been her putting, but she did well today.
'Laura's got a great swing, so there's no breakdown there. It's just been a matter of club selection so far, but she's getting much better with that, and we saw the result today.'Alex Lucio totaled 239 to tie for 73rd, while Kelly Ferris came in at 248 to tie for 84th.
