Sun Devil Volleyball To Sponsor Canned Food Drive

Oct. 24, 2001

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State University volleyball team is doing its part to fight the local war on hunger in America, sponsoring a canned food drive at this week's Pac-10 volleyball matches against nationally ranked UCLA and USC. Fans can help 'Can' the Bruins and the Trojans Thursday and Friday by bringing in a non-perishable item of canned food to help benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Food Banks of Maricopa County.

The Sun Devils (7-10, 2-7 Pac-10) are coming off a 3-2 defeat of in-state rival Northern Arizona and have won two of their last three matches. The Devils will be facing two of the premier volleyball teams in the nation, with the Bruins (10-4, 5-3 Pac-10) ranked sixth nationally and the Women of Troy (14-1, 8-0 Pac-10 ranked third nationally and sitting atop the Pac-10 standings. Both matches start at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena on the Arizona State University campus.
