Men's Golf In Third Place After Second Round Of Nelson Invitational

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford men's golf team are currently in third place after shooting a five-under 281 today in the second round of the Nelson Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. Washington leads the field with a two-round total of 552, followed by Toledo (560), Stanford (561) and Florida Southern (564).

Toledo's Brad Heaven and Washington's Brock Mackenzie and Corey Prugh are all tied for the top spot on the individual leaderboard with a five-under 137.

The Cardinal were led by Philip Rowe who fired a two-under 69 for the second day in a row. Rowe is one stroke from the lead (138) heading into tomorrow's final round. Jim Seki (70-69) is right behind tied for eighth, while Kevin Blue is one-under 141 (70-71) and tied for 11th. Blake Mastalir shot a 72 to go only with yesterday's 71 to tie for 29th (143). Ron Won is 10-over 152 (78-74) and is 71st.

Five Stanford golfers competed as individuals. Pat Phillips shot a two-over 73 today to bring his total to 148 and tie for 56th. Del de Windt (75-76), George Downing (78-75), Ned Yetten (76-78) and Brian Sinay (82-84) are in 68th, 72nd, 73rd and 81st place, respectively.

Stanford will continue play in the final round of the Nelson Invitational tomorrow morning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
